Jacquelyn L. Sturtz

Scholorship Foundation

For thirteen plus years, Ms. Jackie taught pre-school at Alameda and viewed teaching not as a job, but a joy. She looked forward to being at school smiling, laughing, teaching and growing with students and their families. When referring to her "teacher - work," Ms. Jackie would light up with pleasure and self satisfaction. She worked tirelessly preparing her classroom and offering fresh creative ways to reach budding minds.

Ms. Jackie was raised in Coshocton, Ohio where she obtained her strong moral values and work ethic. She was the first in her family to attend college and graduated from Ohio University with a degree in education. Prior to coming to Michigan, Ms. Jackie taught in the Cleveland and Kent Ohio public school systems and continued her teaching career in the Farmington public school system at Highmeadow Elementary in 1964. Ms. Jackie was a devoted mother to three sons and grandmother to five grandchildren whom she dearly loved.

Teaching was a gift to Ms. Jackie who poured her heart and soul into her chosen field and with this dedication in mind, the Jacquelyn L. Sturtz Scholarship Foundation was established to provide financial assistance to Alameda families and students.
